Lightning Fast Tesla Cybertruck: A Breakdown of Its Remarkable Performance

In the realm of pickup trucks, speed isn’t typically the first thing that comes to mind. However, the 2024 Tesla Cybertruck is rewriting the rules with its lightning-fast acceleration. In our recent testing, this powerhouse of a truck, equipped with an 834-hp tri-motor setup, sprinted from 0 to 60 mph in a jaw-dropping 2.6 seconds. Not only does this make it the quickest pickup truck we’ve ever tested, but it also ties as the fourth-quickest electric vehicle in Car and Driver’s history.

Performance

At the heart of this speed demon is the Cybertruck Beast model, boasting three electric motors that churn out an impressive 834 horsepower. Despite its hefty weight of 6901 pounds, this truck defies expectations with its rapid acceleration. Matching the acceleration prowess of the 1111-hp Lucid Air Dream Edition sedan, the Cybertruck Beast blazes its way to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds.

Competition

Compared to other electric trucks, the Cybertruck stands head and shoulders above the rest. Its closest rival, the quad-motor Rivian R1T, lags behind with a 3.0-second sprint to 60 mph. Even the mighty GMC Hummer EV Edition 1, with its 1000-hp powertrain, falls short, clocking in at 3.3 seconds. As for the Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum, it trails behind significantly with a 4.0-second acceleration time.

Beyond Acceleration

The Cybertruck’s impressive performance isn’t limited to acceleration alone. It continues to impress with its top speed and quarter-mile performance. Reaching 100 mph in just 6.9 seconds and boasting a top speed of 131 mph, the Cybertruck leaves its competitors in the dust. In the quarter-mile run, it clocks an impressive time of 11.0 seconds at 119 mph, showcasing its incredible power and speed.

Pushing the Limits

In addition to traditional acceleration tests, the Cybertruck excels in rolling-start and highway passing scenarios. With a 5-to-60-mph rolling-start time of 2.8 seconds, it maintains its impressive acceleration even from a slow roll. Furthermore, in “Sport” mode, its 30-to-50-mph and 50-to-70-mph passing times are significantly reduced, demonstrating its versatility and agility on the road.

Future of Electric Trucks

As electric vehicles continue to evolve, the Tesla Cybertruck remains at the forefront of innovation and performance. With its groundbreaking acceleration and impressive stats, it sets a new standard for what a pickup truck can achieve. As the automotive landscape shifts towards electrification, the Cybertruck stands tall as a symbol of speed, power, and ingenuity.
