Powering Ahead: 2024 Ford E Transit Boosts Range and Charging Speeds

In the realm of electric vehicles, Ford is stepping up its game with the 2024 E-Transit cargo van. While it may not catch your eye at first glance, significant improvements lurk beneath its unassuming exterior. With a larger battery and faster charging capabilities, the E-Transit is ready to revolutionize the world of commercial transportation.

Battery

One of the standout features of the 2024 E-Transit is its new 89.0-kWh battery pack, a significant upgrade from the previous 68.0-kWh unit. This enhancement translates to an impressive boost in range, with Ford boasting a 26 percent increase for low-roof models and a staggering 32 percent increase for high-roof models. These improvements mean that the E-Transit can now travel farther on a single charge, offering enhanced efficiency and productivity for drivers.

Charging Speeds

In addition to the larger battery, Ford has equipped the 2024 E-Transit with a second onboard charger, resulting in faster charging speeds. This enhancement allows the van to achieve peak charging power of 176 kilowatts, a significant improvement over its predecessor’s 115-kW peak. With this upgrade, drivers can expect shorter charging times, making it easier to keep their vehicles on the road and maximize productivity. Ford estimates that just 15 minutes of charging at a DC fast-charger capable of 180 kW or more can add 67 miles of range to the low-roof van.

Charging Networks

To further expand charging options, the 2024 E-Transit now has access to Tesla’s Supercharger network through a newly available NACS adapter. This integration significantly increases the number of available chargers, providing drivers with greater flexibility and convenience when charging their vehicles on the go.

Powertrain

While the 2024 E-Transit boasts several upgrades, its powertrain remains unchanged from previous models. Each vehicle is equipped with a single-motor rear-wheel-drive setup, delivering robust performance with 266 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque.

Summary

With its enhanced efficiency and improved charging capabilities, the 2024 Ford E-Transit is poised to redefine the standards of commercial transportation. Whether it’s the extended range or faster charging speeds, these upgrades make the E-Transit an attractive option for businesses looking to streamline their operations and embrace sustainable technology.
