Not only will this model bring subtle design enhancements both inside and out, but it will also mark a significant milestone in the history of the legendary sports car: the introduction of hybrid technology.
Performance
The 992.2-generation Porsche 911 will be the first to embrace electrification, signaling a new era for the iconic rear-engine sports car. While most models will feature a 48-volt electrical system paired with an integrated starter-generator to complement the flat-six engine, Porsche is also working on a high-voltage gasoline-electric powertrain option, expected to debut after the 2025 calendar year.
Collaboration
Partnering with Rimac, in which Porsche holds a 45 percent interest, the hybrid system is set to be a marvel of engineering. It will include a 400-volt electrical system, an electric motor powering the front wheels, and a compact battery pack capable of rapid recharging through regenerative braking. Reports suggest that this sophisticated setup will add approximately 80 to 90 horsepower to the already potent 395-hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter flat-six engine, resulting in a total system output of around 475 horsepower.
Powerful Performance
While the hybrid powertrain promises exhilarating performance, it does come with a trade-off: the exclusion of a manual gearbox option. However, Porsche is rumored to be developing a more potent hybrid variant, boasting over 520 horsepower, to bridge the performance gap between the GTS and Turbo trims.
New Engines
In addition to hybrid technology, the 2025 Porsche 911 will introduce new engines for the GTS and Turbo models. Internal documents reveal plans to replace the current 3.0- and 3.7-liter engines with a more powerful twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter unit.
