Honda introduces a groundbreaking addition to its lineup with the debut of the 2025 Honda CR-V e:FCEV. This cutting-edge compact SUV boasts a hydrogen powertrain with plug-in capability, offering drivers an environmentally friendly and technologically advanced driving experience.

Efficiency

At the heart of the 2025 CR-V e:FCEV lies Honda’s second-generation fuel-cell module, delivering impressive performance while minimizing environmental impact. Compressed hydrogen gas stored in tanks beneath the rear seat and cargo floor powers the fuel-cell unit, generating electricity to drive the electric motor. Additionally, a 17.7-kWh battery provides supplementary power, ensuring optimal efficiency and range.

Performance and Range

Equipped with a peak output of 174 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque, the CR-V e:FCEV offers dynamic performance capabilities. Despite its robust power, the vehicle boasts an EPA-estimated driving range of 270 miles, providing drivers with confidence and convenience for long journeys. With government MPGe ratings of 61 city, 52 highway, and 57 combined, the CR-V e:FCEV sets a new standard for fuel-efficient driving.

Design

To accommodate the fuel-cell system, Honda has implemented structural enhancements to improve the CR-V’s rigidity and stability. With increased rear lateral and torsional rigidity, coupled with revised suspension components, the CR-V e:FCEV delivers a smooth and controlled driving experience. Visually, the CR-V e:FCEV sports a distinctive front fascia with optimized aerodynamics, setting it apart from its counterparts.

Features and Amenities

Inside the cabin, the CR-V e:FCEV offers a blend of comfort and convenience, with a host of premium features included as standard. From the digital gauge cluster to the 9.0-inch touchscreen with wireless connectivity, every aspect of the interior is designed with the driver’s needs in mind. Heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, and Honda Sensing technology further enhance the driving experience.

Production

While the traditional CR-V models will be available nationwide, the hydrogen-powered CR-V e:FCEV will be exclusively offered for lease in California. Produced at Honda’s Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio, and featuring a fuel-cell module manufactured in Brownstown, Michigan, in collaboration with General Motors, the CR-V e:FCEV represents a significant step forward in sustainable mobility.
